Islam, Jehad, Sharia, Quran and Infidels

I am not an expert on Islam and in fact I am not even an expert on any religion. But I live in an era when Radical Islamists are waging a war against the Non-Muslims across the globe. And me being the follower of the Sikh religion feel like being a target as an "Infidel" as described by the scriptures of the religion. I have Muslim friends and they are normal people like me. I never felt any animosity from them but I am concerned and intrigued. I am pressed to learn what's the basis of this hate against my people, and other Non-Muslims like Jews, Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus.
Multiculturalism and Radical Islam

What is Islam?

Islam is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion articulated by the Qur'an, a holy book considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God, and for some sects, also by the teachings and normative example of Prophet Muhammad, considered by them to be the last prophet of God. It is the largest religion in the world with more than half of the world following it.
The Holy Qur'an
So Islam is an Abrahamic religion and Abrahamic religions (also Semitic religions) are the monotheistic faiths of West Asian origin, emphasizing and tracing their common origin to Abraham or recognizing a spiritual tradition identified with him. The other Abrahmic rreligions are Judaism and Christianity. The unifying characteristic of Abrahamic religions is that all accept the tradition that God revealed himself to the patriarch Abraham.

What is Jehad?

From the past to the present, from Prophet Mohammad, to the Caliphate dynasties, onward to today’s Radical Islamist terrorists, it looks like the followers of Mohammad have been waging war against the rest of the world. Expansive Islam is driven by the venerated Qur’an, one-third of which is devoted to the denigration of Non-Muslims.
Cry for World Domination
So, what motivates the followers of Mohammad to wage war against the Non-Muslims? To understand this, you will have to study Quran, the sacred scriptures of Islam. The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.
Call to Infidels in Qur'an
The quotes in the Hadith (the putative sayings of Prophet Muhammad or a report about something he did) are no less replete with Jewish invective. These laws divide the world theologically into those who who accept Islam as a divine religion and those that do not. Muslims who believe this comprise a global movement, active from Indonesia to Nigeria and extending into Europe and North America, that is dedicated to waging war against “unbelievers” – that is, non-Muslims – and subjugating them as inferiors under the rule of Islamic law. This movement sees in the Koran its divine mandate to wage that war.

Quotes from Holy Qur'an

Here are some examples from the Holy Quran:

Quran (2:191-193) - "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief] is worse than killing... but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone."
Destruction of Jewish Temple in Jerusalem
Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."
Proponents of Sharia in UK
Sura 4:34 - "Husbands should take full care of their wives, with [the bounties] God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money. Righteous wives are devout and guard what God would have them guard in the husbands’ absence. If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them ... As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first),(next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly)"
Polygamy in Islam
Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority".

Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"
Execution of Bhai Mani Singh, Sikh Leader
Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an."
Islamist Radical delivers sermons in front of severed heads of Non-muslims
Quran (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah"

Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poo                r-rate, leave their way free to them."

Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." "People of the Book" refers to Christians and Jews."
Conquest of Infidels - Samarkand
Quran (17:16) - "And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction." Note that the crime is moral transgression, and the punishment is "utter destruction." (Before ordering the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden first issued Americans an invitation to Islam).

Quran (22:19) - "Punish the unbelievers with garments of fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water; melt their skin and bellies." This seems like a cook book of torture followed by the Islamic rulers of India who tortured, maimed, and executed Sikhs.
Persecution of Sikhs under Islamic Rule of India
Quran (23:1-6) - “The believers must (eventually) win through, those who humble themselves in their prayers; who avoid vain talk; who are active in deeds of charity; who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (t                                                  he captives) whom their right hands possess, for (in their case) they are free from blame.”
Proposal of Marriage to Captive Hindu Woman
Quran (33:50) - “O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war”
Spoils of War - Women of Infidels
Quran (47:3-4) - "Those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord... So, when you meet (in fight Jihad in Allah's Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives)... If it had been Allah's Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost."

Those who reject Allah are to be killed in Jihad. The wounded are to be held captive for ransom. The only reason Allah doesn't do the dirty work himself is to to test the faithfulness of Muslims. Those who kill pass the test.
Sikhs executed by Muslim Rulers of India in 18th Century
Quran (48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves", Islam is not about treating everyone equally. There are two very distinct standards that are applied based on religious status.

My Own Observations

I believe all Muslims are not radical and most are good human beings. The Holy Qur'an is a sacred book for Muslims and deserves full respect.
Islamic Couple
However the followers of Mohammad need to do a retrospection of their religion and reform it to be current. These verses of Qur'an were written in medieval times and reflects the attitude of that period.

It is clear that the radical Islamists use these verses to justify them waging a war against the Non-Muslims. The silent Muslim population needs to take charge and not let this rabid minority hijack their religion. The religion needs an overhaul, an reform to become fit in a multi-cultural and multi-religion world with freedom of speech and liberty to practice whatever religion people want to follow.
I can't do it for them, no one can. They have to do it themselves.

Lost Cities of Punjab - Ancestral Home of Punjabi Communities

Punjabi Ignorance We, the Punjabis historically have not been documenting our own history. The Muslim Punjabis have almost forgotten their genetic ancestry and now try to connect their gene pool to the Arab aristocracy of Sayeds and Qureshis. The Pakistan government ignorantly names its missiles after the Islamic invaders who dispossessed their ancestors from their land. The Hindu Punjabis have written off their own ancestors, warriors kings, and Gurus and relate more to the Middle-India heroes such as Rama, Krishna, and Shivaji, The Sikhs have done a better job in staying connected to their roots but their historical reach is limited just to the Sikh period. Punjab history has to be taken as a whole, and that includes, Adivasis, Indus valley, Aryan Khatris, Kushans, Rajputs, Gujjars, Jatts, Islamic invaders, Sikh period, British rule, and the post independence era. Trinity of Punjabi Pride What's the Problem? So what? The results of this ignorance is astounding. We never

The Real Story of Heer Ranjha

We all are familiar with Waris Shah (Urdu: السيد وارث علي شاه النقوي الرضوي البهكري البدراني‎) , ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ (Gurmukhi); 1722–1798) who was a Punjabi Sufi poet of Chishti order, renowned for his contribution to Punjabi literature by immortalizing the love story of Heer Ranjha .  His poetic verse is a treasure-trove of Punjabi phrases, idioms and sayings. His minute and realistic depiction of the details of Punjabi life and political situation in the 18th century, remains unique and the entire poem is an album of colorful and enchanting pictures of life in the Punjab, deeply absorbing. Abdur Rehman Chugtai painting of Heer and Ranjha Waris Shah was deeply learned in Sufi and domestic cultural lore. His depiction of story of romantic love is a poetic expression of the mystical love of the human soul towards God – the quintessential subject in Sufism and a recurring theme in both Sufi and Sikh mysticism. The Legend Heer is an extremely beautiful woman, born into a wealthy family

Reality of Khalistan

The Khalistan movement is a nationalist political liberation movement, which seeks to create a separate country called Khalistān (Punjabi: ਖਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ, "The Land of the Pure") in the Punjab region of South Asia. But is this concept a reality or just figment of imagination? Imaginary Khalistan Map Background The Punjab region has been the traditional homeland for the Sikhs . Before its conquest by the British it was liberated by the Sikhs after centuries of rebellion against the oppressive Mughal rule. The region had been ruled by the Sikhs for almost 100 years. However, the region also has a substantial number of Hindus and Muslims. When the Muslim League demanded a separate country for Muslims via the Lahore Resolution of 1940, a section of Sikh leaders grew concerned that their community would be left without any homeland following the partition of India between the Hindus and the Muslims. They put forward the idea of Khalistan, envisaging it as a theocratic state cove
