Congrestani Con(g)piracy against Sikhs

Congrestani Con(g)piracy

The relationship of Sikh community with the Congress Party has been estranged since the independence of India. It started with the false promises given by Congress leadership upon which Sikhs decided to join Indian Republic unconditionally. Subsequent betrayal of Congress by refusing to designate Punjabi as state language of Punjab, separation of Chandigarh from Punjab, and enrollment in Indian Army on the population based quota and not on merit resulted in a "showdown" during the 1980s. The Sikh rebellion turned to violence after 30 years on peaceful non-violent protest by Akalis failed to bring any results.

Indira Gandhi of Congress responded by ordering Indian Army to attack Golden Temple Complex in June 1984 resulting in mass causalities on both sides including thousands of Sikh pilgrims stranded in the armed battle. This event changed the relationship forever and catapulted into assassination of Indira Gandhi. The Congress responded by large-scale organized pograms against the Sikh minority in Congress ruled states. In Delhi alone, over 10,000 Sikhs were killed, properties looted and burned by violent mobs led by Congress leaders.

Origins of Congress

The Indian National Congress was created (INC, often called Congress) is a political party in India. Founded in 1885, it was a nationalist movement to liberate India from British occupation. After independence, the Congress party changed course and claims to be a secular party whose social liberal platform is generally considered to be on the center-left of Indian politics.

There have been seven Congress Prime Ministers, the first being JL Nehru (1947–64), and the last being Manmohan Singh (2004–14). The Congress has ruled India for 60 years out of a total 70 years but has has been dominated by the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. The stranglehold of the "family" is evident from the renaming of INC to the "New Congress" and then Congress-I signifying Indira Gandhi.

Non-violence of Congerstanis

By now, the Indian National Congress had long departed from the core tenets, in particular Gandhi's non-violence philosophy was tossed to the side. Congress party workers regularly indulged in violent behaviors across the nation. Two Congress leaders, Bholanath Pandey and Devendra Pandey in 1978 hijacked an Indian Airlines plane and demanded the release of their leader Indira Gandhi who was arrested on crimes against the nation during emergencies.

The Indian National Congress party rewarded them and both became members of the legislative assembly of Uttar Pradesh. Devendra served the party as a general secretary of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) and Bhola, the general secretary of Indian youth congress and secretary of Indian National Congress.

The Hand of Violence

Independent civil society inquiries found complicity by both police and leaders of Gandhi’s Congress Party. Following the assassination, mobs, often instigated by Congress Party leaders, went on a rampage against Sikhs in Delhi and other cities. Over three days, at least 2,733 Sikhs were killed, their property looted and destroyed. Many women were raped in the capital. Hundreds of Sikhs were killed elsewhere in the country. The authorities quickly blamed every incident of mass communal violence on a spontaneous public reaction—Gandhi’s son and successor, Rajiv Gandhi, declared at a rally in the capital, “Once a mighty tree falls, it is only natural that the earth around it shakes.
Non-violent Transition of Congress
In his final arguments, CBI prosecutor RS Cheema told the court that the riots which targeted a particular community were "backed by both the Congress government and police".

"There was a conspiracy of terrifying proportion with the complicity of police and patronage of local MP Sajjan Kumar," the prosecutor told the presiding Judge. Mr Cheema said that witnesses at the scene heard Sajjan Kumar tell a crowd that "not a single Sikh should survive"
To date, none of the Congress leaders have been prosecuting for their role in the genocide of Sikhs in 1984. Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler and many other Congress leaders have been giveb "Z-level" security by the Indian government instead.

Apology from a Sikh Congressman

In his apology in Parliament on August 12, 2005, Dr. Manmohan Singh said:
“I have no hesitation in apologizing to the Sikh community. I apologize not only to the Sikh community, but to the whole Indian nation because what took place in 1984 is the negation of the concept of nationhood enshrined in our Constitution.
Dr Singh said, "On behalf of our government, on behalf of the entire people of this country I bow my head in shame that such a thing took place." Dr Singh said he had accompanied Congress president Sonia Gandhi to Harminder Sahib (Golden temple in Amritsar) some five or six years ago and 'we together prayed to give us strength and show us the way that such things never again take place in our country'.
No Apology from Congress Party
Sikh political and religious groups on rejected the apology from the Sikh prime minister as unacceptable and inadequate. The Sikhs demanded that the apology for the ghastly killing of innocent Sikhs by Congress activists and leaders should come from the Nehru-Gandhi family and not from a Sikh Congressman. They also doubted whether the Prime Minister's promise to seek the truth behind the riots would involve identifying and penalising those "influential and resourceful Conress leaders" who backed the violent mobs.

Con(g)spiracy Exposed

In 2017, the people of Punjab voted in Congress party back to power after dismal rule by Akali Dal for ten years dominated by the "Badal" family. The public were fed up with deterioration on law and order, corruption, and nudge given to drug traffickers and alcohol mafia. Congress got a lifeline and opportunity to re-win the hearts of the Sikhs. But They have failed miserably on this front.
Congreess Conspiracy in Punjab
Captain Amrinder Singh, the Congress Chief Minister of Punjab engaged in "foolish" and "unnecessary" tirade against the Sikh diaspora by first dubbing Canadian defence minister Harjit Singh Sajjan a “Khalistani sympathiser”, He refused to meet Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan during the latter’s visit to India. The entire Sikh diaspora took this move as their insult since Sajjan is not only a Canadian defence minister but a symbol of Punjabi diaspora, particularly Sikhs, who have made the community proud with their achievements in their respective countries.

Movement to free Jaggi Johal
Later, Punjab Police arrested Jagtar Johal, a British citizen from Scotland while visiting India for his wedding in mid-October 2017. His horrific abduction occurred while he was out with his wife and relative, when Indian police officers, dressed in civilian clothing, threw a sack over his head and forced him into a vehicle.  Since his arrest in November, Jagtar Singh Johal has been in the custody of Indian Police for over 100 days without being charged of any crime. "Free Jaggi Now" campaigners say Mr Johal has suffered torture in the 100 days he has been held without charge. So why was Jaggi arrested? Apparently he is the Webmaster for a Web site (www.neverforget84.com) documenting the human rights violation in Punjab during the 80s.

The arrest of Jaggi Johal reminds us of the dark days of Congress Rule in Punjab when young Sikh men were arrested by Indian Police without charges, tortured in prison cells, and most killed in systematic "fake" police encounters.

Targeting Canadian Sikhs

Sikhs have had a presence in Canada for nearly 110 years, but tehey were denied the right to vote until 1947. Seven decades after gaining that right, the community marked a historic high on 2017 as 38-year-old Jagmeet Singh became the leader of the New Democratic Party or NDP.  Earlier,  Justin Trudeau, the Liberal Party PM of Canada appointed four sikhs as cabinet ministers, including Minister of National Defence Harjit Singh Sajjan.

Looks like the Congress party and the CM Amrinder Singh of Punjab is not happy with the success of Sikhs in Canada. He led the crusade against the Canadian Sikhs by re-igniting the bogey of "Khalistan" a concept no longer an topic of discussion among Sikhs. The Indian media went on "overdrive" and surrogates wrote articles in Indian media as well as in Canada denouncing "Khalistanis". He tried his best to cast the "shadow" of Khalistan on Canadiam PM Justin Trudeau's visit to Golden temple, the holiest place for the Sikhs. Indian newspaper highlighted the Congress CM's conflict with Canadian Sikhs and relegated the visit to Golden Temple to back pages.

But why? Manjit Singh GK, Presedent of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management committee explians why the entire dram was enacted and who are the culprits of raising the bogey of Khalistan to malign the Sikhs, sabotage the Indo-Canadian relationship, and derail Canadian investment in the state of Punjab which has majority Sikh population.

Lost Cities of Punjab - Ancestral Home of Punjabi Communities

Punjabi Ignorance We, the Punjabis historically have not been documenting our own history. The Muslim Punjabis have almost forgotten their genetic ancestry and now try to connect their gene pool to the Arab aristocracy of Sayeds and Qureshis. The Pakistan government ignorantly names its missiles after the Islamic invaders who dispossessed their ancestors from their land. The Hindu Punjabis have written off their own ancestors, warriors kings, and Gurus and relate more to the Middle-India heroes such as Rama, Krishna, and Shivaji, The Sikhs have done a better job in staying connected to their roots but their historical reach is limited just to the Sikh period. Punjab history has to be taken as a whole, and that includes, Adivasis, Indus valley, Aryan Khatris, Kushans, Rajputs, Gujjars, Jatts, Islamic invaders, Sikh period, British rule, and the post independence era. Trinity of Punjabi Pride What's the Problem? So what? The results of this ignorance is astounding. We never ...

The Real Story of Heer Ranjha

We all are familiar with Waris Shah (Urdu: السيد وارث علي شاه النقوي الرضوي البهكري البدراني‎) , ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ (Gurmukhi); 1722–1798) who was a Punjabi Sufi poet of Chishti order, renowned for his contribution to Punjabi literature by immortalizing the love story of Heer Ranjha .  His poetic verse is a treasure-trove of Punjabi phrases, idioms and sayings. His minute and realistic depiction of the details of Punjabi life and political situation in the 18th century, remains unique and the entire poem is an album of colorful and enchanting pictures of life in the Punjab, deeply absorbing. Abdur Rehman Chugtai painting of Heer and Ranjha Waris Shah was deeply learned in Sufi and domestic cultural lore. His depiction of story of romantic love is a poetic expression of the mystical love of the human soul towards God – the quintessential subject in Sufism and a recurring theme in both Sufi and Sikh mysticism. The Legend Heer is an extremely beautiful woman, born into a wealthy fam...
